A trademark should be registered for your word, phrase or design if it is unique from others in the marketplace.  A trademark differentiates your product or service from all others.  It can be worthwhile to have a trademark so that your product/service is easily identified.  The consumers will learn to associate positive attributes such as quality and reliability with your trademark.
