CRA has announced a Hiring Credit for Small Businesses. It is a one-time credit up to $1,000 and is determined to be the difference between the EI premiums paid by the employer in 2011 over 2010. So, if you paid more EI in 2011 than in 2010, you will receive a cheque from the government for that difference, up to $1,000. You are determined to be a 'small business' for this credit if your total EI premiums are less than $10,000.
It will be calculated automatically for you (No Forms!!), as long as you submit your T4 summary in on time (deadline is January 15, 2012). If you are late - no credit and no recourse, so don't delay.
If Rita can help in any way, please contact her.
